 The Company
The wine growing history of Moldova dates back as early as 5000 B.C. LION-GRI is the representative of a new generation of winemakers of Moldova.
LION-GRI is a leading winemaking enterprise, equipped at the European level. The production technology includes: growing grapes on privately owned vineyards, grape processing, quality wine must production, aging, bottling and final product sales.LION-GRI was founded in 1997. Moldovan winemakers’ traditions together with European equipment and advanced technologies define indisputable quality of our wines, along with conformance to the world standards’ requirements.
The company follows the policy of providing progressive development and long-term presence in the wine market. Basic strategy consists in enhancing business processes, high level of production culture and professionalism, which provides the doubtless quality of LION-GRI wines.
Lion Gri has two primary processing wineries that have been reequipped to meet all European requirements and a bottling company with two bottling lines, which bottle 12000 bottles/hour. The head enterprise of LION-GRI is the winery for secondary wine production, with the capacity of 1.5 mln gallons per year.
Technology
The wineries rely on the up-to-date advanced technologies from France, Italy and Australia. The wine production technological process goes on European modern equipment from well-known vendors: Fabbri (France), Padovan (Italy), Velo (Italy).
The company jointly collaborates with leading specialists from France (Institute de Champagne), Italy, Chile, Australia, many of them provide consulting services of different kinds, as well as control all production stages at wineries. In their own turn, the LION-GRI winemakers have professional training in the countries of France, Italy, Chile, Australia and South Africa.

Lion-Gri International, Inc. was recently awarded the highest, "Grand Prix" award at the Moldova's National Day of Wine.
The award recognizes the company's wines for their quality and its important contribution to the promotion of Moldovan wines in the international wine market. This year the Moldova's National Day of Wine - 2004 festival was held on October 9 - 10, 2004 in the national capital, Chisinau City, and was organized under the patronage of the President of Republic of Moldova. Lion-Gri is the first private company in Moldova to be awarded the prestigious Grand Prix by the President of the Republic of Moldova.
The Moldovan wine agribusiness has attracted interest from Europe as well as from many other countries around the world and has culminated into a national holiday for the workers, the industry and the country as a whole. This year the festival boasted more than 304 participants and over 65,000 attendees from 72 countries, including, representatives from the international media.
During the last 6 years, LION-GRI has participated in different international exhibitions and wine tasting competitions, having received more than 80 medals and diplomas. The awards for the wines are the main proof of their high quality. The latest awards worthy of mention are: silver medal Muscats du Monde (France) 2003, Gold medal – INPEX 2003 (USA, Pittsburgh).
Lion-Gri Signs Distribution with RusImport, Russia's Leading Wine & Liquor Importer. Initial Purchase Order Represents 360.000 Bottles of Wine
On Dec. 6, 2004-- Lion-Gri announced it had entered into a three-year distribution agreement with RusImport, the Russian Federation's leading importer and distributor of wine. RusImport, founded in 1993, is the leading wine importer and distributor in the Russian market and has a market share of 30% of the importation and distribution of premium wines in the Russian Federation.
